Gyula Pintér was born in Hungary in 1954. He studied piano with Lídia Csebiss and composition with Zoltán Pongrácz and János Kautsky (in Holland). Since 1978, he undertook electroacoustic musical experiments in his studio, which he designed himself. Highly active in his field since 1980, he has regularly participated in many musical and fine arts events and festivals. He has also contributed to numerous art events, performances, and theatrical productions both across Hungary and around the world. Between 1985 and 1990, he attended a number of courses in composition, including in Paris (IRCAM), Utrecht (Institute of Sonology), Amsterdam, and many more. He is a multi-award-winning composer, and in 1989 won a special award for his composition, Shrinking Times, at the Bourges International Electroacoustic Music Competition. By 1992, he had gone on to win both 1st and 2nd Prizes at the Hungarian Radio Electroacoustic Music Competition, as well as 1st (1999) and 2nd Prizes (1995) at the Hungarian Radio International Composition Competition. In 2001, his work, Les cloches de flammes roses, was awarded the first prize at the Bourges International Electroacoustic Music Competition, and he was the recipient of the Erkel Prize in 2012. He was also a multi-award-winner at the MÜPA Composers’ Competition in 2020. He regularly participates in Hungarian contemporary music concerts and festivals, including: Music of Our Time, Hungarian Radio, Con Tempo, ArsNova, Valley of Arts, Bartók Festival, Szeged Vántus Days, Spring Festival, and more besides. Since 1997, he has been a member of the EAR Ensemble and the NobilArt Association. P
