After the resounding success of previous years, the Friends’ Association “Klingende
Kirche” of the Catholic Parish of Saarlouis-Lisdorf — in association with the City of
Saarlouis and the Diocese of Trier — is organizing the International Organ Composition
Contest in 2020 for the 9th time.

Eligible for entry in the contest: All compositions for organ + any freely selected solo instrument
or organ + any freely selected solo instrument + any freely selected solo singing voice are eligible to
participate in the competition.
These compositions must not have been published or premiered until the end of the competition.
The composition should be 8 to 10 minutes in length and be specifically arranged for the
1987-built mechanical Mayer organ in the Catholic Parish Church of Saarlouis-Lisdorf.
A distinguished international jury chaired by Dr. Thomas Daniel Schlee, of Vienna, will
decide who will receive the Grand Prize of the Saarlouis Organ Festival. It will consist of
prize money of € 2.000, a master recording of the work produced by Saarländischer
Rundfunk, the Saarland broadcasting company, and a premiere performance featured in
the 2020 Saarlouis Organ Festival.
The jury can also award a second prize of € 1.000 and a third prize of € 500.
The closing date for the submission of entries is March 31, 2020. Works may not have
been published or premiered before the conclusion of the contest.
Anyone who has been awarded a first prize in a previous contest held by the organizer is
ineligible for participation.
The contest rules are available from the cultural council of Saarlouis (Kulturamt der
Kreisstadt Saarlouis); ask for information on the “Organ Composition Contest”.
